Nano Banana 2 is Google DeepMind's image model for quick generation and editing. It is built for steady subject consistency, which makes it handy when the same character, product or person needs to show up across several pictures.

What you can do with it

  • Text to image. Describe a picture and get up to four versions.
  • Edit an image. Attach a photo and say what to change: the background, the outfit, the time of day.
  • Keep a subject consistent. Attach images of a character or product and place them in new scenes.
  • Unusual formats. Very tall 1:4 and very wide 4:1 ratios for banners, strips and long layouts.

How to use it

  1. Write your prompt in the composer.
  2. Attach images to edit or to follow, if you have them.
  3. Set speed, number of images, aspect ratio and resolution.
  4. Check the price in the composer, then generate.

Writing prompts for Nano Banana 2

  • Point at the attachment. "The woman in the attached photo, now standing on a rooftop at sunset" makes clear what to carry over.
  • Say what stays and what changes. "Keep the mug and its logo; replace the desk with a picnic blanket."
  • Name the style. Photo, flat vector, pencil sketch, clay render, children's book illustration.
  • Work in small steps. For a series, make one image you like, then edit it one change at a time.

Example prompts:

  • The character from the attached sketch, drawn in the same style, waving from the window of a tiny red bus.
  • A clean product shot of the attached sneaker on a pale blue background, soft shadow, centered, lots of empty space.

Choosing settings

  • Speed: Fast (default) or Slow. Both cost the same.
  • Images: 1 to 4 per run, default 2.
